About
Welcome to my trail running site. I’m a software engineer, but the outdoors has always been my true North.

My running foundation was built on the track. From grade school through college, I specialized in the 110m event—a race defined by ten specific opportunities to step over a gate faster than the next runner. I held records, won championships, and later coached others to do the same. I never saw those gates as obstacles; I saw them as the places where I could pull ahead. One of my favorite tracks is Paul Derr at NS State. The start area for the 110 is surrounded by Loblolly pines. Back when the start was on the opposite side of the track at St. X, to my right there were trees.
Today, my gates look a little different. I’ve traded Mondo for forest dirt, where rocks, massive roots and fallen trees create natural gates across the trail. I find I can run much longer under a canopy of trees than asphalt. The wilderness provides the grounding I need to sustain my recovery. I no longer track mileage or watch the clock. I run until something catches my eye, then I stop to explore or capture a photo. On this site, I share the stories and images from these adventures.
You’ll see some AI-enhanced "digital magic" here and there, but usually, the forest is magical enough on its own.
Welcome to the trail.
